Who was I ten years ago? A shell of myself today, that’s who. In one word, I was naive. I had no ambition, no drive, no idea who I was, and no clue how to find myself. Fast forward to today, and I can honestly say I don’t recognize the girl I used to be. Today I am confident, proud, ambitious, educated, and happy.
What changed? Besides my husband and my tot (which I love more than anything on earth), the one thing that has made me who I am today is my education. It has broadened me as an individual, given me focus, and shown me that there is far more to life than the bubble we all too often place ourselves in. My degree’s are more than sheets of paper, but proof that I can do what I set my mind to, and that at times life will be tough, but perseverance and prayer can conquer anything life throws at you.
I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve been shown along the way, and inspired by the momentum they’ve provided. For now I am an ambassador for learning. No matter what age (heck, I was an adult student in my undergrad years, and a non-traditional student throughout my graduate program), no mater what the circumstance (um…insert wedding, multiple job transfers, and a baby), and no matter what your financial deilemma (hello financial aid!) you can make your dreams come true.
