Lucky doesn’t begin to describe how I feel when I think of my family. I am BLESSED to have a partner who cheers me through motherhood and life. I am equally blessed to have a tot who thinks I am beyond the bee’s knee’s. Life is good. And so, as Father’s Day draws to an end, I thought I’d share with you the Father’s Day memories we’ve shared thus far.
Ah yes, the first 1/2 Father’s Day. I was OOBER pregnant with a tiny elephant, so lets just say WE WERE TIRED! Rest was the name of the game in those last quite moments of pre-parent glory. Two weeks later we FINALLY met our amazing tot.
His first Father’s Day. We spent Father’s Day Eve painting a platter for PaPaw. Yeah, he got a little messy- But that’s when you know you’re doing it RIGHT!
“Daddy, Daddy wake up! I have a present for you.” His first Father’s Day, and he FELL ASLEEP ON THE SOFA. Yep, tired doesn’t begin to describe those days. We were all readjusting to a recent move and our tot, bless him, had forgotten how to sleep at night.
And what does every tired parent need? COFFEE! A nice bag of good ‘ol Starbucks to start the morning off right!
Oh that face. I just love it to pieces! My goodness hasn’t he grown this year. After celebrating Father’s Day with the family, our tot who was 2 weeks shy of his 1st birthday, had his VERY FIRST TASTE OF COWS MILK. It was a sad day for this nursing mom, but we still enjoyed our special time together for a few more months.
Yeppers. He was a fan. And still is.
I’m not sure where this last year went, but today we celebrated our second Father’s Day as a family. It was strange to be away from all of our family, but a few phone calls home helped ease our sadness. Being the AMAZING WIFE that I am, I let my husband sleep in for a bit. Around 8am my tot was just too excited about the day, so he jumped on daddy (horse-y style of course) to wake him up. We gave him the handmade card we made yesterday and naturally DADDY LOVED IT. After we all got dressed and had a bite to eat we headed to daddy’s favorite place- The Mall.
Daddy had fun shopping at the Apple Store, I had fun window shopping at my favorite stores, and our tot spent most of his time screaming bloody murder because we weren’t in Build-A-Bear Workshop. Fun Times.
But alas, one of us had WAY MORE FUN than the rest.
Stanley Capt. Stanley of course. Hey, it was on clearance for $1.
We returned home where I cooked an AWESOME dinner- steak, potatoes and salad (a manly mans staple). And nothing could have capped off our day better than watching a movie while curled up in one big ‘ol family ball.
Here’s hoping that the next year goes by just a wee bit slower.
And to my love, thank you for all you do. I couldn’t imagine a better person to travel through life with.
Happy Father’s Day
